Ice Storm 2009

Well we have had the worst storm we have ever had in our state! We have several inches of ice and snow which has caused massive power outages throughout the state. We have been very lucky and we are in what I like to call a "bubble". There are several blocks around us that are without power and we have been very lucky to be one of the few still with power! To say the least we feel very blessed! I am so ready for spring, bring on the warm weather!

Way to go Ash!!!

We are so proud of Ash! She has won a Golden Key Award for one of her photo's that she has taken for her photo class. She will honored on Feb 12, 2009 and we can't wait to attend. Her photo will now be sent to the Scholastic National Competition and her work could be, if chosen, shown in Carnage Hall! Plus on top of that if she wins she could be up for some major college scholarships which with her dreams could open so many doors for her! The website to view this work is http://www.artandwriting.org/index.htm. The 2009 photo's are not up yet but soon we are hoping to view it on a national level! Ash we are so proud of you!!

Christmas

The kids are looking to forward to Christmas once again and David & I are just hoping it will be a good one for the kids! I on the other hand have "fallen off the wagon" so to say and I am smoking once again. Although I am not smoking near as much as I once did I still feel disappointed in myself. So I am trying to watch what I am smoking so that I once again quit but I never knew how hard this truly would be. Oh only to go back to when I was a teen and started smoking I would have never started. I only hope this will be a lesson for my children to never pick them up! Well I hope everyone has a blessed wonderful Christmas! Hopefully with Ashley new camera that I will be able to post some new pics soon.

The loss of Pinto

My brother, who's children are his dogs, lost one of his beloved son's yesterday. He has two dogs Jack and Pinto. Pinto was a little Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix who only weighed 6.5 pounds but was a very much loved dog. I have not in many years heard my brother cry like he has for this dog and although I know he did everything possible for his baby he still seems to blame his self. You see Pinto loved to play with his favorite toy, a string shaped into a bone. He would pull and tug at that toy until there was nothing left of it. Unfortunately one of the strings got stuck inside him and he was unable to pass it. They tried to do surgery to remove the blockage but to no avail. And the best thing for Pinto was to let him pass. For my brother this knowledge brought much guilt of allowing him to play with his beloved toy. Although we all know there was no way for him to know this would harm Pinto in such a way he still feels very guilty. So this post is dedicated to the memory of Pinto and the love that he gave and received. Pinto you will always be missed!

Wooley Worms

I was outside today getting in my van when I ran into an all black woolly worm! I haven't seen one of those in years. So I asked my father what that meant and according to the folklore it means a very bad winter. I tried to find a picture of an all black woolly worm on-line but to no luck, so this one will have to do!

The one we seen was actually more black then this one!

New Theme

As anyone that knows me knows that I get bored with backgrounds very easy and need changes. I hope everyone likes the new theme! Please leave me a note to let me know how well you like the new theme!

Halloween

I lost our only camera on a recent trip to VA beach for work, so I have no photo to offer but I can tell you the kids had a blast! Ash decided that she would wear her prom dress from two years ago and add wings to it. As usual she was very beautiful young lady. DJ decide this year to be a ninja. He thought this way nobody would recognize him, well as you know his blue eyes stand out and everyone knew who he was. We also had my sister kids over this year so that they could join in the fun. Dad and I took DJ & Clark around to get candy and although we both were exhausted after the boys seem to have a blast. I will quote Clark he says "It was the best Halloween ever!". Oh to be that young again!! Kristina and Ash went out with several of Ash friends and seem to have a blast with each other. Krissy decided to dress as an 80's girl and to be honest this made me feel very old seeing how that is the years I spent being a young girl myself! But besides that she made a beautiful young 80's lady herself!

Tagged

I was "tagged" by Gin here :http://waitingforchina-girl.blogspot.com/ to take part in this little game. Apparently I have to list 7 random/weird facts about myself. Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules. Share 7 random or weird facts about yourself. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and link to them4. Let each person know they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. I'm not sure if I have 7 people to tag, but anyway, here are 7 things you may or may not know about me.

1. I love Alpaca's!! If I could have an Alpaca farm I would

2. I love to travel. My only wish is that my hubby could travel more with me.

3. I love haunted houses and the paranormal. I could watch Ghost Hunters all the time

4. I love Gatlinburg TN. My dream is to have a cabin there someday

5. Christmas is my favorite Holiday, I have so much Christmas stuff that we can't put it all out!

6. Pogo.com is one of my favorite sites

7. I am a very religious person, I just haven't found a church "home" yet.

And now I am tagging Gin back, because I don't really have anyone else to!

Winter Days

Well I just have to say I am hating this winter! I am not a fan of snow or ice and the cold. It has been a mixture of both this week. My company even shut down half a day on Thursday due to the ice. I am so ready for spring! Ash and I spent the day out at the mall and really had a great time. It is so nice to be able to spend time with her these days. She is growing so fast and before I know it I will be sending her off for college. So I am really taking in anytime I can with her and cherish it. She is becoming a pretty young women and sometimes I wish she could see it, but she is just like her mom!

David surgery is one week out. I am getting very nervous about it all but wanting it all to be over with as well. He is in so much pain these days that I know he is hoping that this will end some of the pain. I am just not sure, I guess living with this for so many years and seeing how much his limitation change each year does not leave me much hope. My only wish for him would be to see him be able to do anything he wants without the pain that he has. I miss being with him and being able to take the kids with us to the zoo or anything really. These days it is just me going with the kids while he has to stay at home. I just miss him.

Ash is having alot of time with her boyfriend these days but seems to be doing well. She has choosen her classes for next year and no surpise to me she choose photography. She loves taking photos and there really good.

DJ had his best friend Spencer over the weekend and seem to enjoy the company. We are all looking forward to his birthday on March 1st. I can't believe he will be 8; boy time sure does fly by.

Snow Day

Well Louisville got the snow we have been lucky not to have. We now have about 3 inches of snow, not so bad but we had ice on top of that, so we had our first snow day in years! The kids are loving it and hoping it will be that way tomorrow so they can stay home again. For me I will be back at work, I don't think taking two days off would be liked very much. I am taking off 4 days as it is in March for David surgery and hoping to take a week off in June to spend with the kids. I don't know if we can go anywhere but I am hoping for a nice week with them anyways. They sure do need it! I am posting a pic of Ash that she took of her self over the weekend. She is growing so fast and is becoming a beautiful young women!

Saying Goodbye/Goodluck

We, as are many americans, just attended a sendoff for our nephew Ronnie. He is heading to Irag sometime in the next month or two. He will first head back to Germany on Thursday, where he has been station for the last several months. I found it hard to watch him go. But he will be in our thoughts and prayers. DJ is looking up to him and even wrote a short story at school about how he wants to be just like him when he grows up,so I took this photo of them before we left today. Please pray for Ronnie as he travels on what he says is "Just a job" Ronnie we are so proud of you!
